I draughed the base drawing for a house that I also designed the master bedroom, en-suite and covered patio for. It was a nice little change for me in the office again. I really enjoyed that.
I finally finished setting up the caddie 16 setting, and now I'm working on that. I caught onto it very fast because it similar to AutoCAD, which was awesome.
I also draughted up interesting base plans for another house. It was interesting because there was a wide oval shaped staircase in the center of the house with 2 different access point on the first floor. That took a while to figure out :).
Weekend :)...!

Week 36
This week I carried on with working on office layouts for old mutual and completed 2 so far. I also coloured in the Demnits plans for council, that took a while....
I did allot of drawing and amending for office m², for client that want to rent their offices out.
I went to measure up a house in Constancia which my colleague is going to draw up... Amazing, simple little house with allot of attention payed to the detail.
I also started doing the setup for caddie 16.

Week 35
We got Caddie 16 this week which means everything is gonna be slow-mo for a while.
Loving the new program though... Especially because it has allot of AutoCAD functions :).
Well this week I worked on Demnitz the majority of the time and im very close to finishing it. Just one review by my boss and all should be good. Hoping i dont have to do a drainage section for it, because it has a really weird drainage layout with sewer pipes running allong the wall above the groud to a pump tank, because of the NGL slope.
Other than that i did a bit of office admin to get away from the Demnitz project a bit.
I also started on a new project for Old Mutual today, which consists of office layouts, sections and internal elevations. It should be an on going project with allot of different offices around SA.
It is quite interesting.

Week 34
This week I did allot of drawing up and changes on low cost housing which was drawing up a set of plans from scratch and then placing it on 102 different sites. I must admit, that was tedious.
On Tuesday, My boss sent me to measure up a house in Bishops alone. which took the whole day.
On Wednesday, I drew up the full ground floor and first floor plans of the Bishops house.
On Thursday, completed the Site plan, sections and elevations. I was quite surprised at my own time efficiency.
And today im working on Demnits council plans again... Long and boring now.
Need the weekend!!!

Week 33
This week I finished a set of council plans for the Demnitz project but its been sent to Germany for a client to see so it might still come back with changes again...
I also went to measure up and take NGL levels of the front area of a house in town and drew it up with two sections for a client that is thinking what to do with the space.
On Thursday I drew up low costs housing for persons with disabilities, which was interesting and also gave me a reason to read through the new SANS booklet.
Today I'm working on changes on 102 low-cost housing units, well starting with it anyways.
Oh yea, i almost forgot... I've been doing some advisory work for students coming in with projects and students not knowing what to study...

Week 32
Well Atlantic Centre was finished this week and sent off to the engineers and the other architectural firm. Well that’s a load off. It was a big project and everyone was putting pressure on us from all sides to get the surveying plans done.
Now I’m back to working on the Demnits project and the client is happy with the options we have shown him, so now it’s onto the council and building plans. It’s a little more detailed as it is 1:50 plans and sections.
I also spent Thursday on drawing up low cost housing from a really scruffy incorrect set of plans. It all makes sense now though J.
Week 31
I was actually glad to be back at work to finish off the Atlantic centre project. The whole week just consisted of going to measure the building every 2nd day and drawing up the building every other day. We luckily ran into the elevator maintenance guy, so I got to ride on top of the all the lifts. It was extremely helpful because, I could pick up all the beam and column thicknesses inside the lift shafts but I found it really strange that the refuse lift shaft was plastered and painted on the first 3 floors. I did allot of drilling and check measurements as the project was coming to an end. The sorting out of all the loose ends and nitty-gritties is very tedious.
Week 30
I really enjoyed Block 2. It was nice to get away from the workload and see my fellow students and lecturers again. In a nutshell, the whole week was very educational and fun. I enjoyed it all.
